Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis in a therapeutic framework to help you resolve your particular issue. When you are in a trance state, you are more likely to discover the underlying cause of the connection between an emotion and behaviour and be more open to suggestion. You are always fully in control and can stop the hypnosis at any point. Using hypnosis, we try to reframe certain past events, take the emotional “punch” out of others and enable you to view the world – and therefore think and respond to it – differently.
The session begins with a detailed history-take. I find out what brings you to me, where you are now and where you’d like to be. I fully explain the hypnotic process to you and what to expect. We then proceed to the hypnosis. Depending on what your issue is, I use a variety of techniques, but often the first technique is one where you are in a very light trance, you are speaking to me throughout the hypnosis and you remember everything. After I bring you out, we have a chat about the hypnosis. In subsequent sessions we have a chat at the beginning about what you have noticed is different and I decide on a technique from there. I often use a completely different technique in the second session, but it all depends on what you come back with.
